Pomegranate picking season continues in Magtymguly etrap

Magtymguly district, which proudly bears the name of the great thinker of the East, our classical poet Magtymguly Fragi, is located in the subtropical region of the Western region. Famous for its unique natural beauty, rich flora and fauna, and excellent tourism opportunities, this district is home to many different gardens growing on all continents of the Earth.

Experienced tenant farmers, talented agronomists, gardeners, and private farmers of the farmers’ associations of Magtymguly district are considered masters of growing such gardens.  They are not only cultivating gardens, flowers, and fruits in the subtropical district, but also consistently lead the way in obtaining abundant and high-quality harvests from agricultural crops. This year, the farmers were among the first in the Western region to successfully fulfill their contractual obligations to deliver wheat and cotton to the state.

During the reporting period of this  year, 14.1 thousand tons of fruits were harvested from various orchards in Balkan province. It is a particularly pleasing fact that more than half of this, more than 7.5 thousand tons, went to the landowners of Magtymguly district.

The rural workers of this district gathered a rich harvest of sweet, sugary and fruit products such as apples, pears, plums, apricots, figs, pistachios, walnuts, blackberries, peaches, and grapes, and diligently delivered them to consumers in the region and the capital.

These days, the work of harvesting the abundant pomegranate harvest in the Sumbar and Chandir valleys is in full swing. The results of the current harvesting season of the medicinal pomegranate, known worldwide as the “Beautiful Sumbar Pomegranate”, also indicate its abundance.

These activities are being carried out in a more organized manner in the Magtymguly, S. Niyazov, “Engish”, and “Sumbar” farmers’ associations of the district. In addition, pomegranates, which are ecologically clean, valuable, and tasty, in the beautiful valleys mentioned above, are also economically profitable.

They are also very useful for health, nutritious product, and are considered a worthy gift. Currently, the area of pomegranate orchards in various ownerships in the district is 350 hectares. Here, leading growers manage to get two to three times more yield from each hectare, instead of four tons, according to agrotechnical requirements.
