Yangy Gala – Turkmen canyon
Yangy Gala Canyon is one of the most beautiful places in Turkmenistan. It means “Fire Fortress”.
This unique and beautiful place is located 165 km north of Balkanabat and 160 km east of Turkmenbashi. It is popular with locals and tourists alike. You can climb a narrow gorge in a steep rock and admire the breathtaking view.
Yangy Kala resembles a huge and solid fortress, built by nature many centuries ago from red, white, yellow and orange colors. Since red dominates among its colors, the locals call it Gyzyldag. In ancient times, the water of Lake Garabogaz came to the canyon, which is why lucky travelers come across shells and colorful stones of various shapes here.
